This Privacy Policy describes how Slovo ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Data Stored Locally

The App stores the following data locally on your device using SQLite database:

• Learning Content: Vocabulary cards, card sets, folders, and practice sessions
• User Settings: Language preferences, learning goals, and app configuration
• Practice History: Your study sessions, progress, and performance metrics

This data is stored exclusively on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly use features that require server processing.

1.2 Data Sent to Our Servers

When you use certain features, the following data may be sent to our backend server (slovo-backend.vercel.app):

• Images: Photos you take or select for word extraction are sent to our server for processing
• Language Preferences: Your selected native and learning languages, and proficiency level
• Translation Requests: Text you request to be translated

Images are processed using Google's Gemini AI service to extract vocabulary words. Images are not stored permanently on our servers after processing.

1.3 Subscription and Payment Data

If you subscribe to Slovo Premium, payment processing is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) and by our payment infrastructure provider, RevenueCat. We do not collect or store your credit card details. RevenueCat may collect:

• Anonymous User ID: A randomly generated identifier used to manage your subscription status
• Purchase Data: Transaction records, subscription type, and renewal status
• Device Information: Platform (iOS/Android) and app version for entitlement delivery

1.4 Subscription Auto-Renewal Terms

Slovo Premium is offered as an auto-renewing subscription. Key terms:

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account (App Store) or Google account (Google Play) at confirmation of purchase
• Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
• Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price
• You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time through your device's subscription settings (App Store or Google Play)
• Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, is forfeited when you purchase a subscription

1.5 Push Notifications

The App uses local push notifications to send you study reminders. These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. No notification data is sent to our servers or any third party. You can configure or disable reminders in the App's notification settings or through your device settings.

2. Permissions and Their Use

The App requests the following permissions to provide its core functionality:

2.1 Camera Permission (android.permission.CAMERA)

Purpose: To allow you to take photos of text (books, signs, documents) for automatic word extraction.

Usage: The camera is only activated when you explicitly choose to take a photo. We do not access your camera in the background or without your explicit action.

Data Handling: Photos taken are processed locally first, then sent to our server for word extraction. Photos are not stored on our servers after processing.

2.2 Read External Storage Permission (android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)

Purpose: To allow you to select existing images from your device's photo gallery for word extraction.

Usage: This permission is only used when you choose to select an image from your gallery. We do not access your entire photo library or scan your files.

Data Handling: Only the image you explicitly select is accessed and processed. We do not read or access any other files on your device.

2.3 Record Audio Permission (android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO)

Purpose: To provide audio pronunciation features for vocabulary words (if implemented).

Usage: This permission is only used when you explicitly request audio pronunciation. We do not record audio in the background.

Data Handling: Audio recordings, if made, are processed for pronunciation purposes and are not stored permanently.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide core app functionality, including vocabulary learning and practice features
• Process images to extract vocabulary words using AI technology
• Provide translation services
• Improve the accuracy of word extraction and learning recommendations
• Maintain and improve the App's functionality

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage

All learning data, settings, and progress are stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database. This data remains on your device and is not automatically synchronized with any external servers.

4.2 Server Storage

Images sent to our server for processing are temporarily stored during processing and are deleted after word extraction is complete. We do not retain images or create permanent copies of your photos.

4.3 Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Gemini AI: For image processing and word extraction. When you send an image for processing, it is transmitted to Google's servers in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat: For subscription management and payment processing. RevenueCat receives anonymous user identifiers and purchase data to manage your subscription. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data only in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: Images are processed by Google's Gemini AI service for word extraction. Subscription data is processed by RevenueCat for payment management.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: You can view all your learning data directly within the App
• Deletion: You can delete any cards, sets, or folders at any time through the App interface
• Permission Control: You can revoke app permissions at any time through your device settings
• Data Export: Your data is stored locally and can be accessed through your device's file system (for advanced users)

To completely remove all app data, you can uninstall the App from your device, which will delete all locally stored data.

7. Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries.
